A newborn boy came into DFS care in January 2019 when he was born substance exposed. His mother has been addicted to heroin since she was a teenager. When he started experiencing withdrawal symptoms, he was placed on morphine. He suffered a stroke, so he was taken off of morphine and placed on seizure medication. He is currently in NICU. When he is discharged, his maternal grandmother is willing to take placement of him. The whereabouts of the child’s father is unknown. This child is in need of an attorney to represent his wishes and legal rights as to placement, permanency, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Disposition Hearing set for February 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom 22.
