This is a conflict case and requires a pro bono attorney to represent a newborn baby boy who came into DFS care on January 4, 2019 after he tested positive for opiates and amphetamines at birth. Baby was born at 37 weeks and weighed approximately 5lbs, 12oz. Both parents admit to ongoing drug use. Paternity test results are pending. Parents are both reported to be homeless. Both parents appear to be engaged with the department. The child is placed in foster care at the moment, but the department is exploring placement with relatives. At this time the child is in need of an attorney to represent his wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Review Hearing set for June 25, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 14.
