Case Number: 2019-000091

In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

This newborn baby girl is the eighth child of a sibling group.  The baby was born drug exposed.  The other seven siblings are already in custody of the Department of Family Services and placed in foster care due to the mother’s arrest, lack of resources and drug use. One of the other siblings is being represented by a CAP staff attorney and the other children are awaiting a Pro Bono CAP assignment.  They will need separate representation from this child as there are conflicts.  The mother lacks stable housing and has a history of exhibiting erratic behaviors indicative of mental health and substance abuse issues. There is no information on the father of this child. An attorney is needed to represent this child’s legal rights regarding permanency, placement, and visitation and to ensure that any needed services are provided.  There is a Review Hearing set for May 15, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
