Case Number: 2018-008064

In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

Police alerted CPS to the possible neglect of a 7 year old child by her mother after an undercover officer purchased meth from the mother out of her home on multiple occasions.  The purchases led to SWAT responding to the home; the child, fortunately, was not at home at that time. Initially, the mother was very resistant to DFS involvement in her life, however, the child is currently placed with her grandmother and mother has expressed a willingness to work with DFS at a recent hearing.  The mother is facing criminal charges and the father is currently in prison.  The child is in need of an attorney to represent her legal rights and wishes as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place.  There is a Disposition Hearing set for January 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom 22.
