A 2 year old girl came into DFS care in November 2018 due to her parents being unable to care for her. Her father was arrested for warrants, and her mother was later taken to the hospital for a possible drug overdose. Paraphernalia was found inside the home. All of this occurred in the maternal grandparent’s home. The parents have an open CPS case in regards to domestic violence. There have also been prior investigations into the family due to similar allegations. The natural father has two older children from another relationship who are not in their father’s care. Sibling visitation may need to be addressed. The maternal grandparents are in the process of being cleared for placement of this child. An attorney is needed to represent the child’s legal rights regarding permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure the appropriate services are in place. There is Drug Court scheduled for January 15, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 21 and a Review Hearing set for May 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in Courtroom 22.
