Three siblings, ages 7 years to 5 years, came into DFS care in October of 2018 due to the middle child having bruises on his neck and arms. The report alleged that the minor was hit with an extension cord by their mother’s boyfriend. The mother’s account of how the child came to have the bruises contradicts the children’s account of the incident. The mother is aligned with her boyfriend. The Department attempted to make contact with mother’s boyfriend with no success. The family has history with the department, however the prior report was unsubstantiated. The children were placed with their maternal grandparents. An attorney is needed to represent the children’s wishes and legal rights regarding permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure the appropriate services are in place. There is a Review Hearing set for April 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 14.
