A 2 year old girl came into DFS care in September 2018 due to her parents’ out of control behavior surrounding drug use and their overt rejection to intervention. This family first came to the department’s attention due to allegations of the parents locking the child in her room and concerns that the parents were using heroin and methamphetamines. The mother was later arrested for driving under the influence and child endangerment. She was also found to have drug paraphernalia in her possession. The parents have been uncooperative with the department. The child was formally placed with her maternal grandmother. An attorney is needed to represent the child’s legal rights regarding permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure the appropriate services are in place. There is a Case Plan Hearing set for December 27, 2018, at 11:00 am in Courtroom 14. There is a Review Hearing set for February 26, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 14.
