Five siblings, ages 11 years to 1 month, came into DFS care in May 2018 due to inadequate supervision. The oldest child was found to be panhandling downtown. Contact was made with his mother, who was subsequently arrested for Abuse/Neglect. She has been released and is cooperating with the Department. Mother has a long history with CPS. The children are in foster care and visitation has been arranged. The children do not have any medical or mental health issues. The whereabouts of the children’s fathers are currently unknown. An attorney is needed to represent the children’s wishes and legal rights regarding permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure the appropriate services are in place. There is a Permanency Planning Hearing set for May 15, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
