Four children, aged 11 months to 8 years old, came into DFS care on April 9, 2018 after the mother was arrested on a warrant following a minor she was with overdosing on heroin. Natural mother has a history of substance abuse and prostitution. Mother also has been accused of striking one child with a pair of scissors. Father was in a sober living facility, for heroin, during these incidents. The family has an extensive record with CPS. Father was seeking treatment before these incidents and Mother is currently engaged with the department. None of the children have any outstanding medical conditions reported. Currently, the children are all placed together with their paternal great grandmother. At this time the children are in need of an attorney to represent their wishes and legal rights as to permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure appropriate services are in place. There is a Permanency Planning Hearing set for March 5, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in Courtroom 14.
