In Children's Attorneys Project (Abuse/Neglect Cases)

Four siblings, ages 17 years to 6 years, came into DFS care with two of other siblings in March, 2018 due to environmental neglect and physical abuse toward one of their other siblings by their mother. Mother was subsequently arrested and put on an ICE hold. Father’s whereabouts are unknown (suspected that he was deported several years ago). No previous history with the Department is reported. These children wish to be reunited with natural mother, presenting a conflict of interest with their 2 siblings. The oldest child is very close to aging out and may be dropped from the petition. An attorney is needed to represent the children’s wishes regarding permanency, placement, visitation, and to ensure the appropriate services are in place, as both parents are facing (or have already faced) deportation. An Adjudicatory Trial in regards to Natural Mother is set for May 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 14. *Clients only speak Spanish*
