Two siblings, ages 3 years and 1 year, came into DFS care in May, 2017 due to inadequate supervision and parents’ drug use. Natural mother left the children with fictive kin for several days at a time and fictive kin is no longer willing to care for the children without DFS involvement. The children are currently placed with fictive kin. Both children show some signs of developmental delay. The 1-year old just recently started to sit up on her own and doesn’t crawl or walk. Mother and father’s parental rights have been terminated in regard to two other children. The children need an attorney to represent their legal interests regarding placement, permanency, and visitation and to ensure the proper services are in place.
