A 3 year old child came into the care of the Department of Family Services (DFS) on July 2, 2015 when his mother abandoned him. With no income or stable housing, the mother is unable to meet the child’s basic needs and does not want to transition her child from place to place. Her prior history with DFS suggests a pattern of behavior. Due to his young age, the minor is vulnerable as the mother’s instability, lack of attachment, and desire for self-gratification compromises his safety and well-being. The child is in need of an attorney to protect his wishes and legal interests in regards to visitation, placement, and permanency plan and to ensure that he receives proper services for his speech delays. There is a Permanency Planning Hearing set for July 2, 2019 at 2:15 p.m. in Courtroom 23.
